KHIRAI, THE 'VALLEY OF FLOWERS'

West Bengal is a state of full surprise, it is not only famous for “rasgullas” and other sweets, but it is also famous for, it’s beauty, tourist spot too. There are many places in West Bengal, which are less knowing for visit but, at present a place is getting famous and many people are visiting there specially, the photographers. The place is known as 'Khirai', 'the valley of flowers'! 

Many people thought how in the world the 'Valley of Flowers' came to West Bengal? Because that is the famous trekking place in Uttarakhand, but after visiting there, hose people spell bound to see colourful and vibrant flowers on both side of Kangsabati River and got to know why it is called 'Valley of Flowers'. Khirai is a small village in West Bengal, just near to Panskura in East Midnapore. Its only 90 kms from Kolkata. 












THE BEST TIME TO VISIT KHIRAI:


During the winter season, the production of flowers increases and this is the best time to witness of blooming flowers. From the months of December to February is the peak season when flowers are at full bloom.

HOW TO REACH KHIRAI:




 Board Howrah- Midnapore local (8am or 8.48am) or Howrah- Kharagpore local(7.15am) from Howrah.From Khirai you can board the down train to Howrah at 1.15pm or 3pm.

After reaching at Khirai station it took 20 to 25 minutes of walk from the platform no. 3, to go near the flowers. There were greeneries all around and it was too peaceful, refreshed as soon as got down. The roads were beautifully covered with red soil and the train line went just beside the lane. There is a small bridge over the Kansabati River. To the south of Kansabati, there were the Red and Yellow Marigold and Aster flowers. To the north of the river Chandramallika (white and pink) of huge size and Rose caught the eyes with, it's beauty. There was also a market, entrancing with local people selling colourful marigold flowers and the ladies were making garlands of it.




With all the beauties and soul touching colours of flowers, there are some problem or difficulties. Like there is no place to stay in Khirai, if staying there is necessary then you can stay at Panskura. Also there are less good hotels to eat, there are some shops adjacent to the station so carrying food and necessary with you will help not to face such difficulties.
