A Tribute to King T'challa

We all woke to a tragic news today. A warrior has fallen. The man who brought T'challa to life. The man who battled cancer for 4 years whilst still spreading cheer and goodwill. Chadwick Boseman is being mourned and celebrated by all around the world today. At the age of 43, he was taken away by colon cancer.

Just goes to show life is short, isn't it. You never know what a person is going through. This kind, kindred spirit went on with life, giving us so many great performances. For instance, he played Thurgood Marshall in the movie Marshall,  the story of the lawyer who became the first ever African American Supreme Court Justice. He went on to play our very own Black panther in the avengers movie saga. Back in 2013, Boseman portrayed Jackie Robinson in the film 42. In a 2019  film called 21 Bridges, he played NYPD detective Andre Davis. Most recently  Boseman played the role of Stormin' Norman in Spike Lee's 2020 film Da 5 Bloods

I remember being in awe of his acting in black panther.  The man resonated immense strength but at the same time there was a sense of calmness about him.

People took to social media to pay their respects, and express the shock that has shook 2020 , a year which is only taking a turn for the worse month by month.

A post was seen on his official social media accounts which said Boseman was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and battled with it over the past four years as it progressed to stage IV.

"A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much," the statement added. "From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T'Challa to life in Black Panther."

The statement concluded with a request to continue to respect the family's privacy during this difficult time.

Words fail me as I try to write about this legend, so let's what some others had to say :

With a heavy heart, I write this article to commemorate the king on screen and in real life. His presence will be missed. May he continue to live in our hearts and lord be with his family.
