NEW EDUCATION POLICY (NEP)-2020
Our education policy got first modified in year 1968, then in 1986 .Now the education policy got changed in year 2020 due to covid-19 pendemic, this policy may be applicable in year 2022.
Under this policy ,Ministry of human resources (MHRD) changed its name to Ministry of Education (Shiksha Mantralaya).
This policy change from 10 + 2 to 5 + 3 + 3 + 2.
In 10 + 2 starting age of child is 6 year where in 5 + 3 + 3 +2 starting age of child is going to be 3 year.
These new policy 5 + 3 + 3 + 2 contains 4 stages:-
First is FOUNDATION,that is of 5 years.No exam would be taken in this 5 years. first three years child will go to play school and in next two years he will attend first and second class.
Second is PREPARATORY, that is of 5 years. child will give exam. they will study from class 3 to class 5. There will be activities + study . They will learn the course in mother language for national language.
Third is MIDDLE STAGE, that is of three years. They will study from class 6 to class 8. There will be coding from class 6 . They will have vocational or technical training like if a child loves to do stitching he can learn it,if he love gardening he can learn gardening and many more new activities. A child can learn Indian languages like Maithili, Sanskrit and other indian languages. He can maths,science,arts.
Fourth is SECONDARY STAGE, which is of 4 years. They will study from class 9 to class 12. There will be semester exam in every six month to check the performance of child.There would be multiple subjects like he can choose one subject from commerce area and one subject from area multiple subjects can be chosen. There is no boundation on choosing subjects. Student can learn a foreign language like German Spanish but Chinese language is not included in it.
At last, there will be GRADUATION which is of 4 years and there will be no degree like BA/ BSc/B.com/other bachelor degree.
1st year- graduate certificate
2nd year- graduate diploma
3rd year-degree (job / competitive exam)
4th year- research
If there is the requirement of graduate then you have to complete third year that is degree.
Before if you leave the course in between then you have to start again from scratch but In new policy, if you leave the course in between then you can continue anytime after any number of years.
Now about POST GRADUATION. It can be of 1 or 2 year depend upon your graduation if you completed 3 year then post graduation will be of two years, but if you complete graduation of 4 year then post graduation is of 1 year.There is no change in PH.D it is of 4 years.There will be no degrees like MA/M.Sc/M.Com/other master degree.
